Things to Do Near Florence, Mississippi

The Jackson Zoo has over 250 animals, representing around 120 species. Located in Livingston Park, the zoo also has a cafe (the Elephant House Cafe,) and areas for family picnics. Exhibits include the African Rainforest, African Savannah, and Wilderness, Mississippi.

If you enjoy fishing or kayaking, bring your gear! The lake is stocked with bass, bream, and catfish (no fishing license required, trolling motors only). Campers fish for free. Campers' guests or local fishermen is $5.00 per person per day. For Wendy Oaks campers – we also have a 5-person paddle boat, a Jon boat, fishing kayak, regular kayak, youth kayak, and three (3) SUP (stand up paddleboards) available for use at no charge (signed liability waiver is required). Children (17 or younger) must wear life jackets while out on the lake. Life jackets are available for use in the office.
